The Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP), under the UTSA Institute for P-20 Initiatives, is an academically rigorous mathematics-based summer enrichment program conducted at several college and university campuses in San Antonio, as well as, across the State of Texas and Nation.  PREP identifies middle and high school students who have an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and helps prepare those students for success in advanced studies and careers by providing a challenging academic program that emphasizes the development of abstract reasoning and problem solving skills and exposure to careers through speakers and field trips.

The original Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP) was started in 1979 by the UTSA mathematics professor Dr. Manuel P. Berriozábal. Seven years later, PREP expanded throughout the state and became known as the Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program, or TexPREP for short. In 1997, thanks to a grant from NASA, TexPREP continued to grow and expand across the Nation and is now known simply as PREP.

Morales Junior High students put together care packages and created Christmas Cards for our soldiers out on deployment under the leadership of Ms. Karee Kerr. Is was a wonderful surprise to receive the below thank you card and pictures.
Good Morning MS. Doris,
I just received one of your care packages yesterday. First of all, I would like to thank you on behalf of my Shipmates over here in Bahrain. God Bless you all and thank you very much.I am sorry to hear that Hurricane Harvey affected your area. Our prayers will always be with you and I hope you guys recover fast. I actually live in Brooklyn, New York. This is my second deployment to Bahrain. I was here for 2015-2016 for 345 days. This year, I got here in October and I will be here until the beginning of September 2018. The weather is cool now but it will hit 120 degrees around March or April. I would especially like to thank the students from Morales Jr. High for their wonderful Christmas cards. It means a lot to us to know that students from Uvalde, Texas care about us and our mission. We are putting their cards up on our shop doors. Please tell them how much their cards mean to us. God Bless You All and thank you for supporting the United States Navy.

Very Respectfully,
